Itinerary...
Day
1 - Thursday
Today
is arrival day at Ballina, whether you arrive by train, plane, coach, car
or group pickup, we will have a delicious evening dinner waiting for you
in our licensed Pool Side Garden Restaurant. You can check-in any time
after 11.00am.
Day
2 - Friday
Today
we tour the Ballina area, including visits to Naval
Museum, Coast Guard Tower, Trawler Harbour, the Big Prawn and other
local points of interest, and hear stories of local history. Lunch today
is at the Award winning Ballina
R.S.L. Club, which has a Wharf overlooking the picturesque Richmond
River. This afternoon we visit Thursday
Plantation, which distributes locally grown and manufactured tea tree
products, throughout the world. An innovative and interesting success
story.
Then we finish your day
travelling to the seaside
village of Lennox
Head where we see the red lake( Lake Ainsworth )
Day
3 - Saturday
This morning we travel north
along the tropical fruit and nut plateau of Knockrow
and Bangalow,
meeting the Ocean at Point Danger on the Queensland
Border, followed by a drive through Surfers Paradise. We visit Twin Towns
Services Club for Lunch returning via the Tweed
Coast to
Kingscliff, Casuarina, Cabarita, Hastings Point and Brunswick
Heads.

4 - Sunday
Today is a free day to do as you
wish, from lazing around the pool to many options available in Ballina.
These maybe Church, Shopping, River Cruise, Fishing, Galleries, Theatre,
Cinema, Bowling, Golf, Clubs, Whale Watching, Heli Tours etc etc...
Day
5 - Monday
This morning we travel the coast
road enjoying the magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean and journey
onto Broken Head where we visit a local Coffee Plantation then onto the
famous lighthouse at Byron Bay for a morning cuppa, Australia's most
easterly point. This is an excellent viewing point for whales during their
migration, and for dolphins playing in the surf. We see Strop's Hotel,
Wildbite Biscuits and other local crafts and produce. After lunch in Byron
Bay we travel through lush rainforest and fields to the Macadamia Centre
before returning to the motel for an evening of entertainment.
Day
6 - Tuesday
Today we travel to Alstonville, which is a pretty heritage village, and
home to the Tibouchina. We learn how an authentic Australian hat is made
at Cutana Hats, - there's one for every head!, before driving to the
wonderful Father Macs Heavenly Pudding factory which operates from May -
November. We then have lunch at Summerland House with
No Steps where we see local horticulture, the fruit packing shed,
Nursery, Macadamia Dehusking Unit and Cawleys Cottage. This afternoon we
visit Evans Head Lookout, followed by the New Italy Museum where you will
also see glass blowing demonstration. We return via the Pacific Highway
back home to the motel.
Day
7 - Wednesday
We start today with a leisurely drive through the cane fields of Pimlico,
one of the original cane growing areas in our region. Following the
Picturesque Richmond River to Wardell where you will visit & have
morning tea at the Pine Grove Bromelaids Nursery, one of the oldest
Bromelaid Nurseries in Australia.
And lunch will be in
Lismore at the Lismore
Workers Club. We see the remarkable height of the flood
levels! You'll be surprised just how high the water rises. This afternoon
we travel through volcanic and lush dairy country locally known as the
"Rainbow Region", seeing the spectacular
Nimbin Rocks. After
Nimbin, we have a leisurely drive back to the Motel.
Day
8 - Thursday
Departure day. The time has come to say good-bye to all
your new - found friends, and
we bid you farewell, wishing you a safe and comfortable trip home, and
hoping to see you again in the near future.
